Daily Soapbox: Acting's Life Lessons

I've taken MANY acting classes over the past few years. Some were inspiring while others were money pits. But no matter which category they fell into, I learned something in each.  Sometimes, it was what to look out for so that I didn't fall for another scam.  Others taught me lessons that transcended the class and allowed me to look deeper into my life. These classes provided me with the tools to, not only find a truth  in character, but also find a place of truth within myself.

Too often do we fight that truth with an overwhelming desire to be liked. No matter what people say, in some way, shape, or form we want people to like us. Whether we change our appearance, be nice to someone who REALLY doesn't deserve it, etc, etc, etc. We all do it. Some say they don't want to be rude. Others think, "Who cares what my opinion is?" While others just want to keep the peace. But by doing so, we are not being true to ourselves.  The more we cover our natural instincts, the more we lose track of who we really are. Its a constant, internal battle in which everyone loses.

Now, I'm not saying that we should all stop taking care of ourselves, start telling people how it is, and to heck with the consequences.  I'm just saying that we need to make sure we are true to ourselves as well.

So...

Take a deep breath...

Relax...

And let your mind/heart go where it may.

Sometimes the things we like the most are the simplest.

Well, Well, Well...

So, its been awhile.

A LONG while!

As I mentioned in my last post, I'm devoting some "Me" time to my life after a long period focusing on everything else but me.  Mainly silly things, but not where my focus should be.

SO, speaking of focus, I'm refocusing my blog.  Acting has been a part of my life for awhile, but it isn't the only part of me.  There is a great deal more that I can entertain people with ( :-) ) that I would like the opportunity to pursue.

Therefore, this blog is now going to be a bit more fun, and a lot less serious.  Not changing the url (too cheap to buy a new one!) but this blog will encompass a great deal more than acting.

I'm looking forward to blogging with you!
